Together with our employee-led Pride Network, we embarked on a mission to bring Pride to every Gamesys office around the world. Gamesys Pride Week was born to celebrate each and every one of our employees, embracing our differences as one beautiful, diverse team!
However, we didn’t want Gamesys Pride Week to be just another wave of the progressive flag and to call it a day – we wanted to take the opportunity for everyone to be able to ask questions, reflect and make a commitment to help the world be that little bit kinder.
Remember, rainbows don’t just appear in June…they can be seen everywhere, all year round! As LGBT+ Activist, Harvey Milk said:
“It takes no compromise to give people their rights … it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.” – Harvey Milk
–What went on–
Our Pride Network brought us some fantastic events throughout the week:
We kicked off the week by teaming up with Stonewall to bring our employees a workshop on the ‘First Steps to Trans Inclusion’; session designed to teach us how to be better allies to trans colleagues and the trans community
The Parents Network & Pride Network collaborated to present ‘Rainbow Families: Jake & Hannah’s Story’; an incredibly inspirational session by Trans Power Couple, Jake Graf (international multi award-winning director, writer and actor), and Captain Hannah Graf (née Winterbourne) (Officer of the British Army serving with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) who shared their story and experience with us.
We rounded up the week, in true Gamesys fashion, with some good old Drag Bingo and local office Pride celebrations! – Live to all our offices from our London HQ and presented by our latest venture, Double Bubble Bingo, the original #BusyLady, Sheila Simmonds, was calling the numbers and entertaining the house down!
–Gamesys Commitment to the Trans Community–
We wanted to use Gamesys Pride week to recognise the trans community who are a fundamental part of the LGBT+ history. Without whom, some of us would not have the rights we have today!
We believe that our organisation should be a safe space for all trans and gender diverse individuals. Which is why we have pledged to internally publish our ‘Transitioning at Work Policy’ and support framework, by the end of 2021!
Gamesys Pride Week was also a great opportunity to look outwards to the community and find ways to support. Every day, the human rights and dignity of LGBT+ people around the world are abused in ways that shock the conscience. The stories of the struggles and resilience often remain invisible – or willfully ignored – by those with the power to make a change. We teamed up with the Gamesys Foundation to support Switchboard LGBT helpline who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to provide support to the community, as well as raised funds for OutRight Action International, an organisation that since 1990 has worked alongside LGBT+ activists and organisations, diplomats and policymakers to advance community-focused solutions to create lasting legal and social transformation.to advance community-focused solutions to create lasting legal and social transformation.
-Showing our Support-
At Gamesys we believe that bold is beautiful and we wanted to show our support to the LGBT+ Community by lighting up our London HQ building in Piccadilly with the Pride colours.
Happy Pride All ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
